The Buunto date picker is now fully accessible via screen readers

Accessibility matters. If a customer relies on a screen reader or keyboard navigation to browse your store, they should be able to pick a delivery date just as easily as anyone else.

We’ve updated the Buunto date picker to make that possible.

What changed

• Time slot and delivery method selectors now use proper ARIA roles, so screen readers can announce each option clearly
• The calendar supports full keyboard navigation - arrow keys to move between dates, Enter or Space to select, Escape to close
• Focus management keeps the experience smooth - after selecting a date, focus returns to the right place instead of jumping to the top of the page

Why it matters

Accessibility isn’t just good practice - it’s increasingly a legal requirement. The European Accessibility Act (EAA) comes into effect in June 2025, requiring online stores selling to EU customers to meet accessibility standards. Buunto’s date picker is built to follow these guidelines, so you’re covered.

More importantly, it means no customer gets stuck at checkout because they can’t interact with the date picker.

These changes work automatically. There’s nothing to enable or configure - every Buunto widget now supports screen readers and keyboard navigation out of the box.
