Introducing Checkout Delivery Options Sync
Your customers pick a delivery date and time slot with Buunto on your product or cart page — then they reach checkout and have to choose the right shipping option all over again. It’s a confusing extra step that shouldn’t be there.
Checkout delivery options sync fixes this. It connects Buunto directly to your Shopify checkout so the right delivery option is already selected, with a clear label showing exactly what the customer chose.
And it works on every Shopify plan, including Basic. Shopify Functions that customise the checkout are normally reserved for higher-tier plans — Buunto makes this available to all merchants at no extra cost.
What it does
When a customer makes a selection in Buunto, the checkout shipping method is automatically renamed to show the full details:
- Local delivery (Friday 13 February, 11am - 12pm) — instead of a generic rate name
- Store pickup – London Store (Tuesday 17 February, 9am - 10am) — with the location, date, and time
- Standard — left untouched for regular shipping
Labels are automatically translated based on the customer’s language, and date formats adapt to their locale.
How it works
Checkout delivery options sync uses a Delivery Customization Shopify Function that runs at checkout to rename your delivery rates on the fly. You create placeholder shipping rates with specific names (like BUUNTO_LOCAL_DELIVERY and BUUNTO_STORE_PICKUP), and Buunto replaces them with the customer’s actual selection.
If the customer hasn’t made a selection yet, the Buunto rates are hidden entirely — only your standard shipping options are shown.
Per-location pricing for Store pickup
If you have multiple pickup locations, you can set different prices for each one. Just add a location-specific rate using the format BUUNTO_STORE_PICKUP_<locationId>, and it will take priority over the generic rate when a customer selects that location.
Buunto shows you the exact rate names to use for each of your locations right in the setup instructions — no guesswork needed.
Getting started
Setup takes just a few minutes:
- Activate the Shopify Function from Buunto’s settings
- Add the placeholder shipping rates to your Shopify shipping zones
- Deactivate Shopify’s built-in Local delivery or Local pickup (if enabled) to avoid duplicates
- Test the checkout
